Spring 2025- Once Upon a Time 

Year 2 Mental Health Week

During Mental Health Week, Year 2 had an absolute blast with all the activities we had organised! The children truly embraced the experience, from exploring the outdoors during Forest School to getting their bodies moving with some relaxing yoga sessions. They also had a great time with junk modelling and engaging in jousting – which was a real highlight!

One of the standout moments was when they created paintings of plants that represented their unique personalities. It was fantastic to see how supportive they were of one another throughout the week.

The children really demonstrated a solid understanding of looking after their mental health alongside their physical well-being. It was heart-warming to witness how they reflected on what makes them who they are. Overall, it was a week filled with fun, learning, and lots of laughter!

Year 2 Story writing

Year 2 have been having a fantastic time reading the story "Little Red." The children really enjoyed comparing it to "Little Red Riding Hood," and we had some great discussions about the similarities and differences between the two tales. It was wonderful to see their creativity flourish as they planned their own versions of the story, keeping Little Red as the main character but changing the villain, the setting, and even Grandma! Their imaginations ran wild, and they all thoroughly enjoyed turning their ideas into storybooks, complete with colourful front covers and illustrations inside. 

Year 2 Cricket lesson

We’re excited to share that Year 2 had an absolutely fantastic time learning cricket with an All Stars Cricket coach! The children were keen to learn the proper way to hold a bat, and they really enjoyed practising their hitting skills. Not only that, but they also picked up some essential fielding techniques. It was wonderful to see everyone giving it their all and working hard, all while having heaps of fun!

Class Two's theme this term is Once Upon a Time. The class will be travelling back to Medieval times, and diving into the world of traditional tales.
