Special Educational Needs & Disability
We work with the Gloucestershire County Council's guidance on provision for children with SEND in mainstream schools, which explains the ways children with different additional needs are provided for within the school.
What qualifies as SEND?
A child or young person has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) if they have a learning difficulty and/or disability which means they need special educational provision and support.
A child of compulsory age of a young person has a learning difficulty or disability if they:
- have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or
- have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in the mainstream schools
