Bear Necessities!

A term of gymnastics

This term in Rainbows, the children took part in engaging gymnastics sessions during their PE lessons, where they learned valuable skills like balance, control and body awareness. Everyone showed great perseverance, determination and grew in confidence over the weeks. It has been wonderful to see their development as they overcome challenges, building not only strength but also a sense of accomplishment as they succeed.

Creating forest art inspired by the work of Emily Carr

The Rainbows have been exploring the fascinating world of bears and their habitats! They've learned that polar bears live in the icy Arctic, while black bears call forests their home. To bring their learning to life, the children studied the artwork of Canadian artist Emily Carr, whose stunning paintings showcase the forests of North America. Inspired by her work, the Rainbows used oil pastels to create their own beautiful forest scenes, capturing the spirit of the places where black bears roam. It's been a super combination of nature and creativity!

We're going on a bear hunt!

Our Rainbows had an unforgettable morning exploring Frithwood on an exciting bear hunt! As they wandered through the woods, they discovered fascinating facts about different bears from around the world. The highlight of the adventure? Finding a friendly bear who was more than happy to join us back in the classroom for more fun and learning! What an amazing day of curiosity, nature, and discovery!

Happy New Year!

Rainbows will be learning all about bears in our new theme Bear Necessities.

Here is the theme overview to show the learning we will cover in our theme:
