In Rainbows this week we have been reading the stories ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and ‘Fatou, Fetch The Water’ to help us learn about African animals and African villages.

To help the children understand what some people in African villages have to do to get water, we took part in a water bucket challenge!

On one side was a bucket filled with water and on the other side an empty bucket. The children had to fill their containers with water and walk with it balanced on their head until they had transferred all of the water to the empty bucket as though they were collecting water from a well.

It was lots of fun and thankfully we didn’t get too wet!!
