British Science Week 2022

The theme of this year’s British Science Week was ‘Growth’. At Bussage we decided that every class should plant a tree in the school grounds to enable our children to have something to nurture and watch grow as they grow in our school.

The children took part in a variety of other learning experiences raising their awareness of what it is to be a scientist. Our very own Bussage Learning Power friend Carlos Cat reminds us to be inquisitive, investigate and explore.

World Book Day 2022!

On 3rd March, we had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day on its 25th Anniversary!

The children (and staff!) all came to school dressed as an interesting word. Everyone looked fantastic and all the children represented a huge, diverse range of words. I think it’s safe to say we all learnt a few new words to add to our vocabulary bank on the day! A huge thank you to all the parents for their efforts in helping their children dress so brilliantly.

We had a little competition for the outfits and the deserving winners all received an extra World Book Day book token.

During the day, we had lots of interesting book and vocabulary-related activities going on. The children all brought in their favourite book from home which they had the opportunity to share with their peers. We had DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) going on throughout the day where, on hearing a special bell, everyone would stop whatever they were doing, pick up their book and just enjoy reading for a few minutes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed doing this, including all the staff!

As well as this, lots of the children participated in live workshops and Author / Illustrator online academies and produced some super work from these. There was storytelling going on throughout the day in classes too.

We really enjoyed celebrating this fantastic day and we feel that our love of reading has now grown even more! Please check out our photos of the outfits and some of the activities that were going on during the day.

Bussage Bear Hunt Thank You & Raffle

We would like to thank everybody who turned up to the Bussage Bear Hunt over the weekend of September 18th & 19th.

We had a fantastic response and managed to raise just over £6,000 which is super news for everyone.

A very special thanks to all of those who dedicated their time to make sure the event was a success, as you can imagine it doesn’t just magically happen by itself.

Finally, the Raffle draw for the Bear Hunt 2021 took place at Bussage school on Monday 20th September 2021. Winning tickets were checked against the numbers on the stubs by an independent verifier and the winners were then notified and prizes distributed.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you for buying tickets.

We look forward to seeing you at the next Bussage Bear Hunt.

With thanks,

The Bussage PTA

COVID-19 Contact tracing over the Easter holidays

The DfE has asked schools to continue with contact tracing over Easter, similar to the arrangements over Christmas:

  1. Staff and parents/carers of pupils need to inform the school of a positive case where they developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in their education setting.
  2. Staff and parents/carers of pupils who were asymptomatic but tested positive within 48 hours of last being in school also need to let the school know.
  3. The school should assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in their education setting.
  4. Where pupils or staff test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) during the holidays, having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in an education setting, they should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.

From the 2nd – 5th April, the school will be monitoring email communications, from the 6th – 7th April, the Local Authority will be monitoring emails.

  • Contact details for parents/carers from 2nd – 5th April: Bussage Primary School
