Visit to Rieux Minervois, France 19-24th February 2017

Mrs Edwards, Mrs White, Harry, Joshua and Rhys have just returned from an extremely interesting trip as part of our school Erasmus+ project.

This is the College of Marie and Pierre Curie.

The boys did a fantastic job presenting to the rest of the children and adults: They told them all about deforestation, and what we had learnt through our Jungle Fever theme. Children from Turkey talked about the environmental issues that turtles are experiencing; Greek children discussed issues with soil; Portuguese children described pollution in their local river in Lisbon; and the French children described pollution in their local stream.

We enjoyed tasting the   traditional foods.

We explored the local area, most of the land is used for vineyards.

The boys interviewed the Greek girls, asking them all about Ancient Greece – it’s the Y5 & 6 theme at the moment!

The boys worked in teams with children from each partner country to sort rubbish.

Here we all are – what a happy group!

We visited Minerve.

They had a trebuchet!

Searching for fossils near to the river.

Celebration night – we met the Mayor of the town and celebrated all of our partners coming together.

Visiting the beautiful city of Carcasonne.

We explored the castle within the Roman walls.

We really enjoyed making new friends during our visit.

We loved trying the crepes!

Our week ended by visiting ‘Cite d’espace’!

Did you know there is even pollution in space?

We had an absolutely fantastic time and have gained memories to last us a lifetime. We even got to meet the pilots and go in the cockpit on the way home!
